For sale is a Seiko SCVF005, a true gem from the Alpinist collection—one of Seiko's most beloved and sought-after lines by collectors. Originally designed for Japanese mountaineers, the Alpinist series often features an inner rotating compass bezel, a nod to its adventurous roots.

At first glance, the SCVF005 may remind you of the modern SPB117, sharing similar dial layouts and case shapes. However, upon closer inspection, the SCVF005 stands apart with its distinctive features. This model showcases lumed shark-tooth indices, a textured web-like dial, and a more compact 37mm case size. The standout detail? The striking red "Alpinist" text at 6 o’clock—a detail cherished by collectors.

What truly makes the SCVF005 a superior timepiece compared to the SPB117 is its movement: the calibre 4S15. Descended from the legendary Daini 52 movement, the 4S15 beats at 28,000 bph, offers a 40-hour power reserve, and boasts accuracy within +25/-15 seconds per day. These specs rival those of the current 8L movements, with the 4S15 known for its precision and durability.

The case shows signs of wear, telling a story of past adventures, but the dial and hands remain pristine with no visible aging. For added clarity, a brand new crystal has been installed. The watch is offered with its original box, instruction manual, and bracelet, fitting up to a 6.75" wrist.
