Seiko SUS SCFF005 from 1997

Presenting the rarely seen Seiko SCFF005, a true gem from the past.

Hailing from Seiko's "Simple" and "Strong" SUS collection, which graced the wrists of young watch enthusiasts in the 90s, this collection paid homage to military and aviation aesthetics. Over its 8-year production run, the SUS series garnered admiration from watch aficionados.

Within the SUS collection, only two groups of mechanical watches emerged – the renowned SUS 4s15 field watches (SCFF001 and SCFF002) and the underappreciated 4s12 GMT watches (SCFF005, SCFF006, and SCFF007).

Among them, the SCFF005 stands as the rarest and most coveted variant of the 4s12 GMT.

Adorned with a matte black dial, accentuated by bold, contrasting printing and distinctive "shark tooth" indices at 3, 6, 9, and 12, the dial comes to life with a vibrant touch of red, bearing the iconic "S" logo seen across the SUS collection. Enhancing legibility, flat white hands grace the dial, while a rotating 24-hour chapter ring aids in tracking a second time zone.

A noteworthy feature is the see-through caseback, showcasing a world map, reflecting its GMT capabilities.

The Seiko 4S movement, born from the reimagining of the revered Seiko Daini 52 movements from the 70s, finds its place in this timepiece, much like its esteemed counterparts, the Seiko Red Alpinist, Brightz, and Credor.

Powering this remarkable piece is the calibre 4s12, an often underestimated mechanical GMT movement, boasting the same impressive specifications as the 4s15 – 28,800 beats per hour, a daily deviation of +25/-15 seconds.

The watch's case exhibits excellent condition, with minor hairline scratches, while the dial and hands retain their youthful vigor. Light scratches are present on the crystal.

This exceptional timepiece comes fitted with its original bracelet, designed to accommodate wrists up to 6.25 inches in circumference.
